Here you should find answers to any questions you may have on services offered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dermaplane FAQs: What Do I Do After Dermaplaning?After a dermaplaning session, it is critical that you keep in mind that your skin is vulnerable right now. It is new skin that will be sensitive to irritation and the sun. Avoid direct sunlight for up to three days.Avoid extreme heat like a sauna or hot tub for three days. Do not exfoliate or scrub the skin for up to one week. Avoid chlorine, such as what is found in swimming pools. Apply serums like retinoids and lotions to help prevent dry skin. Use sunscreen as a skin barrier if going outside. You can use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it, as well. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ XTREME EYELASH EXTENSION FAQs Pre-appointment information: Shower before your appointment and come with your lashes clean! It is recommended that you do not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours after your application. Please do not wear any makeup, moisturizers or eye cream to your appointment. If you wear contacts, you would be better to wear your glasses to your appointment. You may resume wearing your contacts after your appointment. Avoid oil-based cleansers, lotion, makeup or eye-makeup removers, while wearing Xtreme Lashes.
CARE & MAINTENANCE How do I take care of Xtreme Lashes®? Though Xtreme Lashes® are easy to maintain, the first twenty-four hours are crucial for a strong bond. You should keep your lashes dry and avoid touching them. After twenty-four hours, care is fairly simple: avoid oil based products and be gentle with the lashes. They are resistant to water, sweat and tears. Your Lash Stylist should give you a detailed, easy care maintenance instruction manual following your procedure. In general, to maintain your new look and extend the life of your lashes, follow these simple guidelines: * For the first 24 hours after application the lashes should not be exposed to water or steam to allow the adhesive time to fully bond. We recommend avoiding swimming and the spa for 48 hours after lash application for best results. * Be gentle with your lashes do not pull on the extensions or rub the eyes excessively. * Avoid the use of oil-based products on or around the lashes and do not use waterproof mascara. Water based mascara and water based mascara remover may be used if desired. Apply the mascara sparingly and remove it gently with a water-based eye makeup remover. Ask your Xtreme Lashes® Stylist if she carries the Xtreme Lashes® water-based mascaras and Xtreme Eye Makeup Remover, specially formulated for eyelash extensions, or contact our customer service department at 1.877.BIG.LASH for purchasing information. Apply mascara on the tips only. Note: Xtreme Lashes® are ideally suited for individuals who want longer, fuller lashes without the need for much additional eye makeup. Constant application of heavy eye makeup, particularly mascara and eyeliner, may reduce the lifespan of your Xtreme Lashes® and require more frequent touch ups. * Ask your Xtreme Lashes® Stylist if she carries Xtreme Lashes® Protective Coating. You can apply Protective Coating once or twice per week on your new lashes to preserve the look and extend the life of your Xtreme Lashes®. Brush on from the base up to the tips. This coating also gives the lashes a wonderful shine! We recommend getting a touch up every two to four weeks to maintain maximum fullness of your Xtreme Lashes®. Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Xtreme Lashes®? You can enjoy these lashes with little need to adjust your lifestyle. Provided you follow the simple maintenance instructions, are not involved excessively in heat or water activities, and treat the lashes with care they will last through the natural lash life cycle and fall off with the natural lash, not before. You can swim, shower and spa as usual so long as these activities are not engaged in excessively. (Please do not swim or spa for 48 hours after the procedure to allow the adhesive to fully cure.) A competitive swimmer who is constantly in the chlorinated water may lose some lashes earlier than the average person as may someone who gets very frequent facials (weekly) or goes into the steam room daily. Doing an above average level of activities related to heat or constant water exposure may weaken the adhesive bond causing some early lash loss. Do I need to use any special products on my Xtreme Lashes®? There are no products that are required to be applied to the lashes. Optionally, consumers can use Xtreme Protective Coating® which acts as a sealer on the adhesive creating an even stronger bond to the natural lash. It can be applied one to two times per week on the lashes to extend the lasting power of Xtreme Lashes®. Xtreme Lashes® especially recommends this product to those clients with oily skin or those who do not carefully maintain their lashes. If you choose to wear mascara we recommend using one of the Xtreme Lashes® water-based mascaras and Xtreme Eye Makeup Remover, specially formulated for eyelash extensions. Contact our customer service department at 1.877.BIG.LASH for purchasing information. Apply mascara on the tips only. Can I apply mascara to Xtreme Lashes®? Indeed, one of the main advantages of Xtreme Lashes® is that you never need mascara again. However, if you must have the mascara look, only water based mascara can be used. You can purchase one of our specially formulated Xtreme Lashes® mascaras from your local Xtreme Lashes® Stylist or contact our customer service department at 1.877.BIG.LASH for purchasing information. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara along with any type of oil based mascara will dissolve the adhesive and cause your Xtreme Lashes® to fall off. How often should I get touch-ups? A natural lash typically sheds every 60 to 90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Since Xtreme Lashes® are applied one by one to each individual hair, after 2-4 weeks, approximately 1/3 of the lashes will have cycled out. At this point, touch ups are required to replace the lashes that have completed their life cycle. Touch ups generally take a short time and are relatively inexpensive. What do I do if I want them removed? As the natural lashes cycle out and shed, Xtreme Lashes® will shed with them. However, if necessary, Xtreme Lashes® can be professionally removed by a Lash Stylist using our specially formulated adhesive remover. The removal process normally takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes for a full set. Never try to remove eyelash extensions on your own. Damage can be caused by pulling the extensions off with the natural lash, removing the natural lash before it is ready to shed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WAXING FAQs Contra-Indications (When Not To Wax):
Clients using Retin A, Renova, Accutane, AHA, Glycolic acid, Alpha Hydroxide treatments, chemical peels or any other skin thinning products. Never remove hair from warts or moles, nipples, recent scar tissue, eyelashes, inside nose or ears, or sunburned skin. Any systemic disease such as cancer (risk of infection), insulin dependent-Diabetes Mellitus (very prone to bruising: coagulation is slower), Herpes Simplex (cold sores), etc. Vascular problems such as couperose of the face, varicose veins, and phlebitis. Any signs of eruption, abrasion, open wounds, irritation, inflammation or hypersensitivity. For personal comfort of your female client, you should avoid waxing during their menstrual cycle due to increased sensitivity and water retention. Clients on chemotherapy (their immune system is affected and can increase risk of infection). If client has been shaving or using a chemical depilatory, ask them to discontinue at least 2 weeks prior to waxing. When in doubt, don't wax. Q. Does the type of wax used matter? A. Absolutely!!! Just ask our clients. They will tell you the wax we use feels less painful than other spas. It is because we use a creamy wax with essential oil of Lavender. The lavender is a natural antiseptic and calms the skin.
Q. What is the difference between a Brazilian and a Playboy? A. For a Playboy, think of a Landing Strip and nothing else. For a Brazilian, think no hair ANYWHERE.
Q. How long do I have to wait before my first wax? A. To get the best results, I need your hair to be at least ¼” long. This takes the average person about 1 to 2 weeks of growth. After the first wax, as long as you do not shave between services, you’ll find the second wax to be a lot more comfortable. This is because your hair will grow in finer and more sparse. Typically, the ‘cactus’ feel you have with shaving will not exist with waxing, making it easier to grow out between waxes.
Q. I got my eyebrows waxed once and the skin came off. Why? A. There can be several reasons for this. If you are using skin care products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids of any kind, these can cause the skin to lift while waxing. Another area of caution is aggressive exfoliation of the skin, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Prescription medications such as antibiotics, Acutane, or topical ointments such as Retin-A or Renova can cause the skin to thin and lift while being waxed. Other products to keep in mind are Strivectin, Proactiv, Avita and Avage. There is also the possibility that your technician may be inexperienced or is using an inferior wax that is not gentle. Our recommendation is that if you are unsure of any topical creams or prescriptions you are using, ask first. Keep in mind that it’s difficult to predict how skin will react, no matter how many precautions are taken.
Q. Is there anything I should do to prepare for waxing and to be comfortable? A. Yes. There are a few things you can do. If you are a female client, schedule your waxing service the first two weeks after your cycle. Your sensitivity level is a lot less during this time. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these can stimulate, making you more sensitive and increases the redness after waxing. Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.
Q. How long will my skin stay red? A. Depends on the person and the skin type. For most people it takes up to 1/2 hour. After waxing, do not tan or jump in chlorine for at least 24 hours. Avoid perfumes, scrubs, or other irritants the day of the waxing service. If you’re a bride or attending a special occasion, we recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, schedule another wax a day or two before the event.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RF Cavitation is a FDA approved, non-invasive procedure designed to reduce localized fat by applying safe levels of ultrasound energy via a hand held probe to a targeted area of subcutaneous fat. With Cavitation treatment, tiny micro-bubbles are created in the fat cells, which weaken the fat to liquify, releasing their contents to be reused or eliminated by the body, which are subsequently disposed of through the lymphatic and liver, leaving the healthy cells intact.

By what other names are Ultrasonic Cavitation referred to? - UltraShape Ultrasound Cavitation Cavitation Ultra Cavitation Body Contouring Body Sculpting. 2. Is Cavitation a safe procedure? - Yes, it is a safe, FDA Approved, comfortable, and non-invasive procedure with virtually no side effects. It does not require anesthesia, leaves no scars and does not require any post treatment. The RF energy is designed to target fatty tissues beneath the skin only, and does not affect the blood vessels, nerves and connective tissues. 3. Is the procedure painful? - No, the treatment is painless. A slight tingling sensation or buzzing in the ear may sometimes be felt during the treatment. Some heat sensation may also be felt during treatment but no pain. Any slight reddening of the skin which may sometimes develop during or soon after treatment quickly disappears, some report a ‘post workout’ type of soreness. 4. On which parts of the body is the treatment most beneficial? – Thighs (saddle bags), Abdomen (love handles/pouch), Hips (flanks), Buttock, Back & Upper arm i.e. the areas of localized fat. 5. How long is a treatment session? – Treatment times may vary depending on the area being treated but a typical session will last between 30 minutes to an hour. 6. Where are fat cells stored? - Fat is stored primarily as triglycerides inside adipocytes cells located between the muscles and skin. The numbers of fat cells are the same regardless of a person’s weight but the size of the cells can vary greatly. 7. What instant result can I expect? - The cavitation treatment will often yield immediate results which you can feel, touch and see and it can be long lasting. However, more significant results will be noticed throughout a series with optimal results at the end. 8. What long term results can I expect with cavitation? - You can achieve ‘volume reduction’ of fatty tissues and ‘toning of the body’. The results are gradual over a number of weeks as your body clears the broken down fatty tissues. The results can be long lasting provided you follow a healthy diet and exercise program. However it is very easy to deposit fat again into the tissues if one over-eats, consumes too much alcohol or lives a sedentary lifestyle. Ultimately the result may vary depending on the individual’s different tissue structure, treatment area, age, metabolism, medication, and changes in hormones. 9. Can I lose weight with Cavitation? - Fat Cavitation is not a treatment for obesity nor is it a weight loss procedure. Rather is a method for ‘reshaping’ and ‘toning’ the body. It is particularly intended to reduce localized fat tissues which are resistant to exercise around the abdomen (love handles), buttocks, and thighs (saddle bags), that won’t easily go away by simple dieting and exercise. 10. Are there any side effects with this treatment? – There are virtually no side effects. However on rare occasions there may be a slight possibility of mild side effects such as transient redness, excessive thirst, or nausea immediately after the treatment which is invariably resolved by drinking water. These are all short-term effects that disappear in a few hours. 11. What Guidelines should I follow pre-treatment and, post treatment? – Drink plenty of water. Drinking water is a necessary part of the treatment to facilitate the elimination of the broken down fat. Maintain a healthy diet to ensure that the energy released by the treatment is properly utilized and metabolized by the body. After the treatment patients are able to return to their daily activities as usual. 12. What are the ‘contraindications’ with Cavitation? - Cavitation treatment is not for everybody. Even though it is a safe and painless procedure, nevertheless there are contraindications for using cavitation devices for treatment of localized fat. Such contraindications will depend on the individual’s medical history. Thus people with kidney failure, liver failure, heart disease, carrying a pacemaker, pregnancy, lactation, etc. are not suitable candidates for the cavitation treatment.
